Our studio is thrilled to announce Crossy Road Rush is out now on Apple Arcade!
The Crossy Crew is leaving the big smoke to enjoy a well deserved holiday in beautiful Crossy Cove. Think sunshine, sandy beaches, scenic drives… (Don’t let rumours of a giant sea monster put you off!)
A whole new game launch is a big deal! We figured you might have some questions about it, so we’ve put together a little Q&A below:
What’s Crossy Road Rush like?
In Crossy Road Rush you’ll swerve, spin, and scramble through a colourful island adventure packed with unexpected obstacles, familiar faces, and plenty of surprises. Explore the island and see how far you can make it… just try not to upset the local wildlife!
Part runner, part platformer, and entirely chaotic - Rush puts a new spin on the genre with the addition of freeform movement and co-op multiplayer. To top it all off in style we’ve added collectible hats and vehicles that can be equipped by your favourite Crossy Road characters!
Can you show us some of how the game was made?
Making games involves a lot of experimentation, and occasionally throwing out ideas that seemed brilliant at the time. Sometimes a prototype grows into something completely unexpected! Crossy Road Rush actually started out as a shoot-’em-up prototype we affectionately called “Schmuppy!”
Too bad if you’re trying to relax on the beach!
Our team soon identified that the vehicles and freeform movement of our Schmuppy game were really the stars of the show. That little nugget was the start of Crossy Road Rush. And after many, many more iterations we arrived at the game we’re bringing you today!

What were some of the biggest hurdles you had to overcome?
There were plenty of bumps along the road in the making of Crossy Road Rush!
Adding the multiplayer feature was definitely something that impacted all teams, and took careful consideration throughout the development process.
Another big challenge for the art team was carefully balancing all the ups and downs of the roads to make sure nothing ended up underwater.

What’s next for Crossy Road Rush?
Crossy Cove is just the beginning of our island adventure! We’ve already got plans for more updates, new content, and other surprises down the road.
